Every year, we donate $100 to a charity on behalf of each moderator on the Stack Exchange network. In 2025, we donated a total of $49,300 USD to seven different organizations focusing on different causes that are important to Stack Exchange communities. The amount that went to each charity was determined by the percentage of moderators that selected that organization from a poll.
This year, we added the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), as moderators had asked us to include a charity focused on animal welfare. Moderators also specifically asked us to include the Internet Archive, an organization whose mission is near and dear to many Stack Overflow and Stack Exchange users, and which turned out to be the second most highly selected charity of the bunch (after Doctors Without Borders, which has been the top selected charity over the last several years).
